1810 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Elland
George III, dated 1810. 16ins by 17ins wide. 1810 Silkwork Sampler by Elizabeth Elland. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass.

Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on canvas ground, in a variety of stitches.
Meandering floral border.
Colours brown, cream, copper, pink, purple, greens and gold.
Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 5 - 9.
Verse reads
'O may I always Ready stand
With my Lamp Burning in my Hand
May I in sight of Heaven Rejoice
Whenever I hear the Bridegrooms Voice'.
Signed and dated 'Elizabeth Elland Aged 10 1810'.
A good set of motifs, including a potted flowering plant,
birds,
trees, flowers and deer.
CONDITION: Good.
One hole.
A few pale stains and slight uniform age darkening of the ground.
Very minor stitch loss to the border and signature.
Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.
Pale colours difficult to read.
No colour run.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame in very good condition, ready to hang.
